Cherie was born in Guiseley, Leeds a place most famous for its Fish and Chips being the home of the original Harry Ramsden’s.
She attended Beckfoot Grammar School in Bingley and after taking time out to pursue a number of career moves, including a spell working for Leeds United at Elland Road, the Restaurant and Nightclub The Nouveau in Leeds, she went on to study Theology and Egyptology at Manchester University and resided in Manchester for 10 years. She married in 1980 and later divorced in 1991. She has two sons – Jamie and Peter.
In 1991 she first begin her performing career as an amateur taking the stage with a Charity Rock band with friends from St. Michael’s Church, Middleton. They performed around Greater Manchester raising money for Cancer Research. The band was known around the area as Mega Voltage and later a name change to Reflex.
Her acting career also began at a similar time with performances in Milnrow Amateur Dramatics (MADS) as Principle Boy and the Good Fairy in two separate Pantomimes.
Cherie is an avid supporter of VSO and during the period 1992 – 1997 undertook a number of events to raise funds for this organisation, including a parachute jump from RAF Bicester and again teaming up with Yorkshire Cricket Club in 1994 for a Charity Cricket Match with the First Yorkshire XI verses a VSO Celebrity team, captained by David Essex in aid of VSO and Phil Carrick’s testimonial. In 2007, Cherie undertook a trek across the Inca trail to Macchu Pichu in aid of VSO and raised over £4,000 for the charity through this endeavour.
1997 saw a move back to her homeland of Yorkshire in 1997 where she took some time out from her music by playing some lead roles in Hebden Little Theatre’s productions, such as Martha Rudd in the Cracked Pot in the early 2000’s and also the role of Julia in Haunted at Halifax Playhouse.
No stranger to the media, Cherie hit the UK and world headlines in 1997 after dressing up as Catwoman for a fancy dress day. Later in 2003 she hit the UK headlines again as it was alleged her website supposedly had a provocative photo on! (See picture to the right)
Cherie has also performed before Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Sharon Osbourne in an early edition of X Factor.
Cherie also attended the Hollywood Movie Awards in 2001 at the Beverley Hills Hilton in Los Angeles.
Recently, Cherie has played a few support roles in productions such as the ITV soap Emmerdale, Waterloo Road and also the ITV Drama Red Riding. She has been featured in films such as Freight and a Bollywood movie, Showman, which sadly has yet to make the screens and be completed.
Cherie self has self released two albums, “Cherie Rivero” in 2007 and “Cover Girl” in 2008. Both these albums featured well known songs –covers.
Cherie teamed up with songwriters Laura and Baz (DSS Music –Spain) in 2009 to perform Dirty Dance, which is her first single and her first major hit.
This single is available in the UK. and worldwide from itunes. The video to accompany the song Dirty Dance was filmed in Mumbai, India and produced by Jayant Sinha from Cinedreams Productions, directed by Ganesh Jadhav.
Cherie is presently working with friend Pete Douglas co-writing new songs with new tracks to be released in 2012.
Cherie has performed at many places around the world including Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Egypt, USA, Cuba and most recently India.
